April Writing Competition
Show off your writing skills by entering the April Writing Competition! Write a paragraph about one of four prompts, submit your paragraph through the Google Form, and be entered into a drawing for prizes.
There will be three winners per grade level. Once announced, winners can stop by the library to pick out their prizes (one snack (Takis, chips, etc.), one candy bar, and three stickers (from the Book Fair pile). Some paragraphs may be chosen to be displayed in the library’s display case. Anyone whose paragraph is displayed in the case may also choose one prize (snack or candy bar or stickers).
All entries are due by April 30th. Winners will be announced May 2nd.
If you prefer to write poetry, there will be a Poetry Writing Contest in May. You are welcome to enter both!
TO QUALIFY:
-Paragraphs must be at least five complete sentences.
-Paragraphs must be about one of the four prompts listed below.
-All paragraphs must be typed up and then submitted through the Google Form that is located on the school’s website.
Four Prompt Options
(pick ONE prompt to write about)
Write a paragraph about what you are going to do or what you did during Spring Break.
Brainstorm Ideas: What are your plans? Did you do something fun with friends or family? Did you travel? Are you going to read a new book or try a new game or relax at home?
Write a paragraph about your favorite thing that happens during Spring.
Brainstorm Ideas: Is there a holiday in Spring that you love? Does a sport you enjoy start during Spring? Do you and your family plant flowers or go hiking or participate in Pinecone Pathways? Do you have a Spring tradition with friends?
Write a paragraph about your dream Spring Break vacation.
Brainstorm Ideas: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? What would you do? Would you visit the national parks in the U.S. or walk on the Great Wall of China or see a kangaroo up close in Australia? Or maybe you would rather stay home and do something!
Write a paragraph about what you have enjoyed about school this year so far.
Brainstorm Ideas: Think about field trips, cool classroom activities or projects, competitions, plays, clubs, pep rallies, outside speakers; what is something you have enjoyed this year?
